I love the idea of adding the hoped for output. This will help people know _why_ they are there, and prepare better. I'm less sure about the 'roles' annotation. This might 'push' someone into an observer role/stop them from stating their opinion/information they have, which could be useful?
You make a great point, people might be marked as observer when they have input. I was thinking about observer for a Scrum environment in which you have 'chickens' --- that are involved but not committed ;)
